Built in USA as Liberty Ship Samindoro in 1944. The name was changed to Sandsend in in 1947 and operated by the same company Rowland and Marwood's Stream Ship Company until 1967 when she went to the breakers.

SS Brettenham was built in Dundee for the Ministry of War Transport as Empire Bard in 1941 and was a member of a number of Russian convoys.
After the war sold and renamed Angusburn until 1955 when sold again and renamed Brettenham. Scrapped in 1971
